Bio-One Columbus – The Power of Gratitude

November is National Gratitude Month, a time to celebrate and give thanks. Showing gratitude is a healthy way to decrease stress, improve health and build strong relationships.

During this month, Bio-One Columbus is grateful to our current and past business partners for trusting us with your biohazard remediation needs.

Did You Know?

Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans, who are people who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The first celebration using the term Veterans Day occurred in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1947. In 1954, Congress passed the bill that President Eisenhower signed proclaiming November 11 as Veterans Day.

Bio-One Columbus would like to honor our current employees who are also veterans:

Bio-One Spotlight

This month's spotlight is on James Pisanek, Bio-One Columbus's longest-serving employee. James started with Bio-One Columbus in December of 2019 and currently serves as a Senior Project Manager. For him, the most meaningful part of working at Bio-One is helping people in their time of need and making a difference in their lives.

James's piece of advice for others is to "Be your best at all times!" He stays true to his own advice with hard work and dedication to a job well done onsite.

Tim's Corner

In 2016 when I opened Bio-One Columbus, I had a lot of expectations that were realized in fairly short order.  I expected to see a lot of families in crisis.  I expected to see the pain and trauma that often follow senseless tragedy.  I expected to offer help and a measure of comfort to people in ways that are only made possible because of the unique nature of the services we provide, and I expected to work harder than I’d ever worked in my life.

What I didn’t expect was just how much of a difference we would have the opportunity to make almost every day.  Whether it was the hours of exhaustively detailed work often required to make a home safe or just a compassionate statement offered with genuine empathy, I consistently heard from our clients how the job we did and the manner in which we did it impacted them.  I was and continue to be humbled when a family member in the middle of what is often the worst day of their life stops to thank us and share their thoughts and feelings.  That’s what I didn’t expect, and that’s the thing for which I’m the most grateful.

I’m continually reminded that we all have opportunities to make a difference in whatever role we occupy.  Even something as small as a kind word or gesture is often all it takes.  The opportunities are everywhere.  We just have to look for those moments and be grateful for each of them.

National Law Enforcement Museum Post - 9/11 Exhibit

Bio-One, Inc. is a sponsor of the newest exhibit at the National Law Enforcement Museum, Post - 9/11: The Evolution of American Law Enforcement

As described on LawEnforcementMuseum.org:

Since 9/11 law enforcement has come together – in partnership with other agencies, the private sector, and the general public – to help make us all safer. In response to the threats raised by 9/11, law enforcement has seen changes in the areas of intelligence collection and analysis, interagency partnerships and information sharing, technology and innovation, training and preparation, and community engagement.

The National Law Enforcement Museum will present a new exhibition to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and honor the officers who rose to the challenge that day. This will be the first exhibition to focus on the significant changes to U.S. law enforcement that occurred in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

The exhibit opens August 27, 2021 and tickets are available for purchase

To learn more about the exhibit, register for the August 19 virtual conversation The Post-9/11 Story: Questions, Reflections, and a Museum Exhibit. This program will pull back the curtain on the behind-the-scenes conversations that go into crafting an exhibit about the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and life since. Learn more and register here!
